Tim Holtz project for Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge

Here is my entry for the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge. I used the Lost and Found papers for this project. It was tough to decide which papers to use - they are all so so great. I ended up using the labels, rulers and tickets.  The doilies are Martha Stewart and the charms are just ones I have picked up here and there. The butterfly is Maya Road, the bird and the wings are Tattered Angels.  I really am pleased with how this turned out. I was inspired by a project I had seen on this  blog.

Grungy Peek and a Layout

Here is a 12 x12 layout on painted and glimmer misted canvas, I used Graphic 45's On the Boardwalk paper,  perfect for this picture of my grandparents and their friends on the California Beach in 1929. The journaling is from my Granmother's memoirs "I had a friend in Hollywood so in 1929 Dad bought my ticket and gave me $100. It took 3 days on the train. Lee and I walked the full length of Hollywood Blvd that afternoon. We lived in a Girl's Club, one half block off the Boulavard. I got a job with a real estate firm and then later with the Board of Education."  My grandpa was from the same hometown as my grandma - Chariton, Iowa, but his father lived in Hollywood and he was there since there was little work in Iowa at that time. While my grandparents knew each other they had not courted before my grandma's move to Hollywood. Since the families knew each other my great-grandfather invited my grandma and her friend Lee to dinner and then they all begun hanging out together. They spent alot of time at the beach and looking at star's homes. My grandma lived to be 93 and her time in California was one of her favorite subject to reminisce about. My grandparents are the couple on the left end. I alos took the heads of each person and put in the Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon.

Here is a  peek of a project I am working on that is very very Tim. I am hoping to have it finished to enter the Simon Says Stamp  Vintage Challenge.

Showing my Cosmo Cricket Love

My all time favorite line from Cosmo Cricket is Early Bird. I made this photo tray for my sister.  I jazzed it up with all the Early Bird love I could find - and  pics of  my two favorite munchkins -  from here on out known as niece and nephew. My awesome dad actually made the photo tray out of his scrap wood - lucky me - I showed him a picture of the 7 Gypsies version - this is a tad different but better because he made it.

I am working on a grungy project right now, lots of Timmy in the house. I hope to have it done in time to enter the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Challenge.  Really enjoying playing with his Lost and Found paper pad and inks. I will try to post a sneak peak tomorrow AM and the finished in the PM.
My daughter and her friends are upstairs getting all dolled up to go clubbing - listening to them talk makes me GLAD I am no longer a teenager....:-)

Tree Collage

Here is a collage I made my mom for Mothers Day this year. I really love doing this type of project. I have done another one that is smaller and has birds and leaves on it. I am planning one with a peacock theme. I used just about every Tim Holtz technique I could think of - distress inks, alcohol inks, distress embossing -I had so much fun playing around when making this.

Bombshell Card

Here is a card of a slightly different type. This is made with the Lady Luck  stamp set from Bombshell Stamps. They carry the most wonderous line of  pin-up girls along with beautiful sugar skulls and cool hot rods.   The sets come as unmounted, red rubber  - my favorite way to get stamps. I also own the Love and Luck set which has some pretty birds, roses and banners. I think perhaps in a previous life I was a bombshell pinup girl.
card is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics and Bic Mark-its

I plan to post tutorials, challenges and tips and tricks for papercrafting and the tools used in papercrafting. I am going to be giving away some blog candy in honor of my opening blog post - I will use a random number generator on August 22nd so leave a comment on this post!
People often want you to describe your style- - I find this very hard as my style of work varies with my mood. Sometimes I am feeling whimsical and old school, sometimes vintage and pretty and sometimes retro and sexy....lol. I try not to ever limit my crafting to one style but a common theme is often vintage or retro. I do love old stuff - old pretty stuff and old funny stuff. One style you wont see too much form me is cute - whimsy yes, cute not so much.
I really hope you follow my blog and come back to see what Shrimpy Sue is up to.

Here is a card I made recently using Stampin Up's Pedalin Past set and papers from The Girls Paperie line.

Here is a wall hanging I have done using Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl patterned papers and Maya Road chipboard. This is one of my favorite pieces I have made.

Thank you for checking out my blog, be sure to become a follower and leave a comment to be eligible for blog candy on August 22.
